Principles

  • We only collect what we need to provide the service.

  • We follow guidelines and laws for minors including

    • GDPR
  • You own your data and can request removal at any stage.

What information we collect

  • We collect personal information that is entered by the user

    • Email address
    • Preferred name
    • Image of the teacher (optional)
    • Voice recordings (optional)
  • In addition we collect information from the Internet about how users reach and use the platform, which we use to help us to improve the service.

  • We DO NOT store any credit card information

What we use personal information for

  • Email address

    • Unique identifier for each user
    • Contact information for teachers only
    • We may send teachers information about the platform and the service, although you may unsubscribe if you wish from any marketing material.
  • Preferred name

    • Used to identify students to their teachers and vice versa
  • Image of teacher (optional)

    • Used to identify the teacher to students
    • Used to promote teacher created public content on the platform
  • Voice recordings (optional)

    • Allow the teacher to listen to student pronunciation attempts
    • Allow the teacher to record their voice for their own phrases

How do we protect your information

  • We manage the entire application in the AWS cloud and it is secured behind a cloud managed firewall
  • Access is restricted to a restricted group of personnel and they must have secure credentials and 2FA
  • All data is encrypted at rest and in transit in the cloud 
  • All access to the application is via HTTPS and encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher
  • We are AWS FTR certified (Amazon Foundational Technical Review)
  • If the information under our control is compromised, we will investigate the incident and will then notify you in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

How we use cookies

  • Essential Cookies 

    • Cookies that support login functionality and that help remember whether you are signed in.
  • Functional Cookies

    • These cookies help to personalize your experience using the application. They are anonymous and don’t track browsing activity across other websites. Usage includes:

      • To indicate if an application help “Tour” is completed
      • Language preference
      • Light or Dark Theme 
  • Statistical / Analytic Cookies - These are used to track user browsing behaviour over a certain period. Data collected by a statistical cookie are for statistical purposes only, such as analysing and reporting visitor interactions with our product. They help us understand the usage of our product and to help us improve our product.

How to request removal of your information

  • If you are a parent of a child below the Age of Digital Consent in your state or country who was instructed by their school to sign up to Nualang and you wish to remove your child’s information from Nualang, please ask your school to contact us.
  • If you are a school using Nualang and you no longer want us to hold information about one or more of your students, please contact us.
  • If you signed up to use Nualang independent of a school, please inform us if you no longer wish us to keep your information for future language learning.
